During my decade of service in the South Carolina House of Representatives, I have tried to provide leadership to the General Assembly, listening intently to those I serve, actively pursuing their needs expressed and working to assure my statewide responsibilities as a public servant are fulfilled.
In 1996, when the residents of District 72 first elected me, I pledged that I would commit my time and efforts to the issues that mattered most: education, protecting our natural environment, seeking ways to decrease crime in our communities, improving taxes by controlling spending, while always responding to the needs and concerns of my constituents. My track record has proven my dedication and I will continue to uphold the tradition of service instilled in me by my family and professional experience.
As your Representative, I have worked with my fellow members of the General Assembly to enact laws that reflect our values and concerns and among those include laws that improve early childhood education, public education and protect the rights of victims of domestic violence. I have supported efforts to improve campaign financing laws, protect victims of child abuse, preserve our natural heritage and have proposed legislation to protect the legal rights of citizens in a host of circumstances.
I want you to know that I am committed to making our government responsive and accountable to the people it represents and to being the kind of hardworking Representative you deserve. In the coming years, I will continue my legacy of working with our neighborhoods to solve local problems and remain receptive to your needs.
Please do not hesitate to contact me. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve you in the South Carolina House of Representatives and I will continue to work hard each day to merit your trust.
